Welcome to the 2023 Eco NRG Ltd South West Targa Road Rally organised by South Hams Motor Club on Saturday 8th July 2023. We are very privileged to have a new sponsor to our sport Eco NRG Ltd and thank them very much for their support.
In the past we have held this event as the South West Endurance Rally using Forestry Commission Land and Military ground, to have about 90 miles of tests. Perhaps in the future, but what we have done for 2023 is bring back the team who organised those remarkable rallies. So this year we are offering around 60 miles of Tests, with the roads and gravel tracks within the RRH Portreath complex which the club have used for their stage rallies for many a year.
The Start / Finish venue will be on the main run way, so this has plenty of parking and the Barcoda catering van will be on site which will be offering breakfast and lunch (at your own expense). The evening meal will be served by them before you have to travel home hence a good days rallying and also well fed. The Start will be at 10.26 hrs to allow more time for people to arrive if traveling from afar.
The Club is promoting the Motorsport UK StreetCar accredited scheme and have become a StreetCar - accredited club so we will be having a class for these type of cars. The event is a round of the 2023 DL Motorsport Parts Ltd ASWMC Targa Rally and the 2023 BTRDA Silver Star Targa Rally Championships. Contenders must enter one of the Interclub classes to score points. Registered contenders can also score points by marshalling. For the novices there will be a Clubman’s event open to any member of South Hams Motor Club Ltd.
The first car will leave MTC 1 at 09.56 am with a short run to Test 1 followed by 2 more Special Tests, a short break followed by 2 tests, then 1 test before lunch. Similar Special Tests will be run in the afternoon before competitors finish for an evening meal, allowing competitors to socialise while waiting for the results and awards.
There is accommodation available in and around Camborne/Portreath areas. There is also plenty of accommodation in the area to suit every budget. See SR 27 for useful telephone numbers for accommodation.
Scrutineering will be available on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
The route will be defined by A3 Maps with diagrams of manoeuvres, of all competitive sections. No OS maps are required to complete the route. Competitors are not required to bring a marshal, but we encourage more marshals.
We all look forward to seeing you on 8th July, 2023.
Kevin and Roger and the South West Targa Team.
